AI Is Making Teams Faster, Not Better

AI is helping software teams build faster than ever. But are they actually building better products?

Jeff Keyes (AI Product Strategist & CTO at Allstacks) questions one of the biggest assumptions surrounding artificial intelligence and workplace productivity.

Companies are investing heavily in AI tools with the expectation that employees will produce more.

More features.

More code.

More software releases.

But Jeff argues that the pressure to increase output can distract teams from a more important question.

Are customers receiving more value?

A development team might release twice as many features without improving customer satisfaction, adoption, or revenue.

And if those features don't solve meaningful problems, increased productivity may not translate into business success.

This is why product management and customer research remain essential even as AI accelerates software development.

The goal shouldn't simply be to build more things.

It should be to identify the right problems, validate solutions, and measure whether those solutions actually work.

Is AI helping companies innovate, or just helping them produce more software nobody needs?
