Is AI just creating more work for developers?

AI is supposed to make product teams more productive. But what happens when it simply produces more bad work?

Jeff Keyes (AI Product Strategist) explains a frustrating problem emerging in AI-assisted product management and software development. Product teams are using artificial intelligence to generate user stories, requirements, and documentation faster than ever.

But according to Jeff, some engineering teams are receiving the same unclear requirements they struggled with before AI, except now they're significantly longer.

More words don't necessarily mean better communication.

And more detailed user stories don't automatically mean developers understand what they're supposed to build.

When AI generates large amounts of unnecessary information, engineers may spend more time interpreting requirements instead of solving customer problems.

The real measure of AI productivity isn't how much content a tool generates. It's whether that content makes the team more effective.

AI should help product managers communicate clearly, prioritize customer needs, and improve software development workflows.

Otherwise, automation risks scaling the very problems it was supposed to solve.

Is AI making product teams more productive, or just generating more unnecessary work?
