The biggest mistake with AI decision-making

AI gives us more context, but it can actually make decisions harder.

AI can give you more information than ever before—but does that actually make decision making easier?

Yue Zhao (Product Leader & Executive Coach) explains how AI is changing the way product leaders and teams approach decisions.

In the past, if she wanted to understand part of a codebase, she might have needed to ask an engineer to explain it. If she needed financial context, she might have needed someone from finance.

Now, AI tools like Claude can provide that context almost instantly.

You can ask questions, explore different options, and walk into a decision with a much deeper understanding of areas outside your own expertise.

But there's a surprising downside.

When everyone has access to more information, everyone can start to feel like they understand the problem.

More context doesn't automatically make the decision easier. Sometimes, it creates more opinions, more possibilities, and more complexity.

AI may be making knowledge easier to access while making judgment even more important.

Does having more information actually help us make better decisions?
