Vibe Coding creates massive security risks in modern software. Learn how unsecured legacy code accumulates and why it threatens stability.
Vibe coding uses AI coding tools to generate software quickly from natural language prompts. It may look easy, but Dorian Selz explains why working code is not automatically secure, understandable, or ready for production.
In this clip, Dorian shares what happened when his company used Vibe coding AI to create a new front-end prototype. The team achieved what looked like overnight success, but experienced software engineers struggled to understand the AI-generated code. It also failed the security requirements needed for regulated industries.
Why does vibe coding fail in real production environments?
The problem is not simply whether an AI coding tool can generate functioning software. The real test is whether engineers can review, test, secure, maintain, and update that code after deployment. Without those safeguards, vibe coding can rapidly create technical debt, security vulnerabilities, and legacy code that nobody fully understands.
Popular vibe coding tools such as Cursor, Claude, Google AI tools, GitHub Copilot, Replit, and Lovable can improve software development productivity. However, Dorian argues that experienced engineers, code reviews, security testing, and clear engineering standards remain essential.
He also challenges claims that vibe coding delivers productivity gains of more than 100 percent. After accounting for testing, security, reviews, and maintenance, the real improvement may be closer to 20 to 40 percent. That is still significant, but far below the hype.
Whether you are a software engineer, product manager, startup founder, or technology leader, this conversation explains the risks and benefits of vibe coding and why moving faster today could ultimately lead to slower software development tomorrow.
