Instead of building AI systems that simply replace human intelligence, artificial intelligence could be used to connect large groups of people and amplify their ability to think, deliberate, and solve problems together.
In this model, humans don't disappear from the decision-making process. AI becomes the infrastructure that helps human intelligence operate collectively at a scale that wasn't previously possible.
It's a very different vision for the future of AI: rather than asking whether artificial superintelligence will surpass humans, we could ask how AI might help humans become collectively more intelligent.
