The Real Cost of AI Infrastructure #Energy

“Move Fast and Break Things? Not the Grid.”

Silicon Valley was built around moving fast and breaking things. The power grid can't work that way.

Rob Gramlich (Electric Grid Expert) explains that technology companies are comfortable experimenting, failing, and quickly trying again. Electric utilities operate at almost the opposite speed.

That's because the electrical grid is an enormous interconnected system. A mistake isn't simply a software bug that gets fixed in the next update.
Connecting something incorrectly can affect thousands of other components across a multi-state power grid and, in the wrong circumstances, contribute to a blackout.

That's the fundamental tension behind AI infrastructure: technology companies want electricity at software speed, while the physical infrastructure supplying that electricity has to move carefully.

What happens when the speed of AI meets the speed of the power grid?
